RESULTS
WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - In the first ever meet at Monmouth University in Long Branch, New Jersey the Iona College Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Team came away with a pair of road wins against the Hawks. The Iona Men remained undefeated notching their 4th win, 166-91 to go to 4-0-1. The Iona Women came away with a 145-92 win to increase bring record to 3-4.Â
The Iona men captured all 13-individual events including a pair each from Collin Purrman, Chris Vadala and Owen Badin.
Senior Collin Purrman, lowered his own school record in the 100-IM from 55.73 to 55.40. Purrman also touched the wall first in the 200-Free (1:46.73). Badin, a sophomore had his first career double win meet taking the 1000-Free (10:28.88) and the 200-Back (2:05.28). Vadala. A junior swimming in his home state posted wins in the 100-Breast (1:01.83) and 200-Breast (2:16.19).
 Other winners included Dranoel Truter in the 100-Back (56.62); James Whaley in the 200-Fly (2:03.76); Christian Foti 50-Free (22.51); Keegan Boisson Yates in the 100-Free (49.00); Matt Anderson posted a team leading and season best time in the 500-Free (4:44.20); Zachary Holbrook won the 100-Fly (54.55).
The Iona women took 9 of the 13 events with New Jersey residents Elizabeth Kaczmarek and Jessica Schmidt each winning a pair of events before a large group of family members. Kaczmarek, a junior won the 200-Breaststroke and 100-IM with respective times of 2:34.87 and 1:02.60. Sophomore Maria DiBella posted victories in the 100-Back (1:02.60) and in the 500-Free (5:22.39).
Three Freshman Anna Desiderio, Aly Chain and Simone Sturrup added wins to the total. Desiderio, a New York resident won the 1000-Free (11:22.14); New Jersey native Aly Chain won the 200-Fly (2:17.25) with Bahamas native Sturrup won the 50-Free (25.61).
The Gaels have little time to celebrate as they take on Providence at the Hynes Center Pool at 1:00pm Saturday.
