NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Swimming its fourth meet in a 13-day span, the Iona College men's and women's swimming & diving Team came up short against the visiting Fordham University Rams at the Hynes Athletics Center Pool Wednesday night.
The Iona women lost by a score of 165-60 to drop its record to 5-8. The Iona men fell to 7-3-1 on the year with its 144-78 defeat.
On the men's side, co-captain Junior Christian Foti was a double winner taking the 100 and 1000-yard Freestyle races with respective times of 47.92 and 9:42.19. Sophomore Matthew Bosse took the 200-Back at 1:57.30.
Junior Elizabeth Kaczmarek had the women's best placing on the day taking second place in the 200-Individual Medley at 2:14.56.
Speaking on the meet, Head Coach Nick Cavataro noted, "This has been a demanding training and competitive period for our group and Fordham is a strong team with no weak events. We will see this level of competition in two weeks at MAAC Championships and have to be prepared. I'm sure we will be better Saturday."
The Gaels close their 2016-17 regular season when they host MAAC rival Manhattan College at the Hynes Center at 1 PM.
