NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Iona College men's water polo junior Quinn Lloyd was named the Male Student-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 2.
 
Last week, Lloyd was one of Iona's top offensive performers in a very busy week of action. He had seven combined goals in games against St. Francis Brooklyn, No. 7 Harvard, MIT and Brown.
 
Get to know more about Iona men's water polo junior, Quinn Lloyd:
 
What is your major and why did you choose to study it?
"Currently majoring in Marketing but I am going to declare a double major of Marketing and Finance by next semester."
 
What do you like to do for fun besides sports?
"I like to play pick up sports with my buddies when I'm not practicing or studying. I am also very into listening to music."
 
How did you get started playing water polo? What got you interested in playing?
"I actually started playing water polo in a recreation league when I was 5 years old. I got into it because they let me play with my older brother who is 4 years older than me. He also competed for the Iona water polo team."
 
Have you had anyone at Iona, professors or coaches (or someone else) make a lasting impact on your life?
"I think the most influential people at Iona for me have been my teammates and my coaches. We're like a family, we would do anything for each other and I believe that it will be that way for the rest of our lives."
 
How do you prepare for a game? Do you have any superstitions?
"I usually like to get a good meal in before games, a sandwich and a Gatorade. My favorite part before games is blasting music in our locker room and dancing/shaking loose to our favorite songs to get warmed up. Song of this season has definitely been Mo Bamba by Sheck Wes. Other than that just getting hyped up for the game and getting my other teammates pumped up."
