NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Iona College wrapped up the regular season with a four set win (16-25, 25-11, 25-8, 25-21) over the Saints. Prior to the game, head coach

Emma Rose,
Claire Archibald and
Mia Bonsignore.
MATCH SUMMARY
Iona had more kills that Siena in each set of the match, but the Saints stole the first at the Hynes Center. The Gaels had nine errors in the opening game, limiting themselves to a .095 hitting percentage. Siena pulled away with a 9-1 run that stretched the deficit too large for the Gaels.
The Gaels returned to form in the second and third sets. Siena scored 19 combined points in the pair of sets and didn't have a hitting percentage above .148.
Archibald served seven straight points in the second set to give the Maroon & Gold the tying game. In the third set Iona had a 7-4 lead till juniors
Tess Connolly and
Jessica Paolucci combined for a 9-1 run to make it 16-5. Archibald continued to serve well in the third set, closing it out with six straight points.
Iona had its hitting percentage dip below .300 I the fourth set but the Maroon & Gold were able to overcome seven attack errors. Siena had a match-best 10 kills in the fourth. The Gaels also had a match-high 18.
STAT NUGGETS
- Iona finished the 2018 regular season with an 18-7, 16-2 MAAC record. The Gaels already have the most wins in a season since 2010. The program's 16 league wins is a program record.
- Archibald led all student-athletes with 13 kills. Sophomore Jamie Smith had 12 kills and Bosignore handed down 10 kills and a match-best four blocks.
- Senior Emma Rose had 46 assists of Iona's 50 team assists.
- Archibald was the team-leader in digs with 15. Connolly didn't play the first set but still registered 14 digs.
- Ion had eight service aces for the third straight match.
UP NEXT
Iona plays as the No. 1 seed in the MAAC Volleyball Championship. The quest for an NCAA tournament bid begins on Friday, Nov. 16 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
