NEW ROCHELLE, NY – In it's penultimate home game, the Iona Lacrosse teams fell to Niagara 18-9 Saturday at Mazzella Field. Prior to the contest, the Gaels honored it's eight graduating seniors

GAME SUMMARY
Niagara jumped out to a 5-1 advantage 10:03 into the game, with Iona's lone tally coming from Madi Kochanek. The Gaels rallied for three unanswered goals with one by Emma Rippon and two by Leah Marshall. The Purple Eagles scored the final four goals of the half to take a commanding 9-4 lead at halftime.
The teams traded goals to open the second half. After Niagara's Alexis Morales put Niagara up by six, Kati Paavola notched her 13th goal of the season. Metcalf answered a Niagara tally to bring the Gaels back within five with 15:39 to play. Five consecutive scores by the Purple Eagles gave them the largest lead at the game at 10 with 9:07 to play. Kochanek and Caton Brisbin concluded the Iona scoring.
NOTABLE NUGGETS
- Shannon McCaffrey made nine stops in net.
- Niagara outshot the Gaels 33-30 and controls 16 out of 28 draws.
- Iona committed 29 fouls to the Purple Eagles 13.
- Leah Marshall scored two goals, her sixth straight multi-goal game.
- Kochanek tallied two goals in the game and has scored at least one goal in six straight contests.
- Caton Brisbin recorded her first career multi-goal game, scoring on her only two recorded shots.
- Alyssa Connell caused four turnovers, her second game in which she has totaled four or more.

Iona travels to Fairfield on Wednesday for it's final road contest of the season to take on Fairfield at Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium. First draw is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
