WEST LONG BRANCH, NY - Iona drops another game to Monmouth this afternoon, 15-5. The Hawks of Monmouth went on an 8-0 run after the Gaels opened the scoring at the 25 minute mark. Senior Madi Kochanek led the Maroon & Gold on offensive with two goals on eight shots.

GAME SUMMARY

After Senior Caton Brisbin opened the scoring for the Gaels on an unassisted goal. And then the Hawks took a commanding lead after a massive 8-0 run. The Gaels were unable to find the back of the net despite getting recording double digit shots in the first half. 

The second half was not much better for the Gaels, two minutes into the half Madi Kochanek found the back of the net for her first goal of the game. Katherine Meyer and Leah Marshall both scored a goal each but the comeback was too steep for the Gaels to climb. With 6:30 left in the game Kochanek notched her second goal of the game to make it 14-5 Monmouth. 

Elyse Darcy played in net for the Gaels making 8 saves on 29 shots. As a team the Maroon & Gold picked up 14 ground balls three from freshman Delaney Roan. Leah Marshall recorded a team high 6 draw controls.

UP NEXT

Iona will look to get in the win column on the road against Quinnipiac on March 19. Game time is scheduled for a 3 pm start time.
