Emma Havrilla Tabbed MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

EDISON, NJ - For the second time this season, Emma Havrilla of Iona women's soccer has earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. In a 1-0-1 week for the Gaels, Havrilla posted back-to-back clean sheets, including a shutout of the first-place Quinnipiac Bobcats in a 1-0 victory on homecoming.

Havrilla began the week with five saves in a scoreless draw with Canisius on Wednesday afternoon. She made at least five saves in a contest for the fifth time this season. Her week was highlighted by a three-save performance against first-place Quinnipiac on homecoming, a 1-0 victory for the Gaels. The Bobcats entered Saturday without a loss in league play and had not been held scoreless in a contest all season. Quinnipiac had outscored conference foes 24-3 before being blanked by Havrilla and the Gaels on Saturday.

The Maroon & Gold return to action this Wednesday, October 19 when they travel to face Niagara. The Gaels and the Purple Eagles kick-off from Lewiston, New York at 3:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
