RIVERDALE, NY - The Iona University women's soccer team suffered its fourth loss of the season and third conference loss on Saturday afternoon against cross town rival Manhattan, 1-0, at Gaelic Park. The Gaels held statistical advantages in shots (6-5) and shots on goal (4-2), but the Jasper's found the back of the net late in the first half and proved to be all they needed.

Iona's offense got off to a slow start in the first half with only two shots, as Manhattan's net minder made both stops. In net for the Gaels
Emma Havrilla saw five shots making one stop in the full 90 minutes.
Samantha Hogan,
Sofia Giamanco, and
Sofia Banegas combined for all shots from the Maroon & Gold, Banegas led the team with both of her shots being on target.
The offense picked up the tempo in the second half recording double the amount of shots than the first half, but just could not sneak one past the Jasper goal keeper. Manhattan's goal came in the 39 minute off the foot of Cailtlin Alcoba,
NOTABLE NUGGETS
- Iona falls to 6-15-2 against Manhattan, and have now lost two straight games to the Jaspers.
- The Gaels kept it clean with only four fouls in the game, compared to the nine committed by the hosts.
- Iona took the one and only corner of the game for both teams.
