NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona University men's soccer team hosts No. 3 Manhattan on Thursday, November 10 at noon in the semifinal round of the 2022 MAAC Championship. The Gaels earned the No. 2 seed in the postseason after finishing the regular season with a 5-1-4 mark in league play. The match will be played on Mazzella Field, where the Maroon & Gold are unbeaten (5-0-2) this season, marking the first time in program history that Iona will host a MAAC Semifinal match.

The two schools, separated by 10 miles, met earlier this season in New Rochelle, a 2-1 victory for the Gaels. Iona and Manhattan last met in the postseason in 2011, a semifinal round win for the Jaspers. The Maroon & Gold will host a home playoff contest for the third time in program history, the most recent was a quarterfinal round win over Rider in 2019 en route to the program's first MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament berth.

Iona had seven athletes earn placement on All-MAAC teams, while Manhattan boasted eight All-MAAC honorees and the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, Nassim Akki. The Jaspers are unbeaten in seven straight matches entering play on Thursday and are coming off of a 2-0 win over No. 6 Fairfield in the MAAC Quarterfinal. Iona was previously unbeaten in league play before falling on the road at Saint Peter's in the regular-season finale on November 2, the Gaels' first loss since September 10 at Holy Cross.

Head coach James Hamilton has guided Iona, picked to finish ninth in the 2022 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, to the postseason for the fifth time in seven seasons. Iona is 2-1-0 at home against Manhattan during Hamilton's tenure. The Jaspers' 1-0 double-overtime victory in New Rochelle in 2017 is Manhattan head coach Jorden Scott's only win at Mazzella Field in his 10 years at the helm of the Green & White.

Student tickets are free for all Iona students (student ID required to be shown upon arrival). All other tickets must be purchased online ahead of time or upon arrival using a QR code that will be provided by the conference office at the ticketing table located next to the press box. All tickets are electronic, as is payment; cash will NOT be accepted for the transaction of tickets.
