NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College community mourns the loss of
Marian Casali, 84, a long-time athletics employee and ambassador for the College. Marian dedicated a large part of her life to Iona, working at the College in many capacities for over 30 years, and working tirelessly to see it and its athletics department prosper. She served as a maternal presence for many of the players and younger staff.
"Marian was beloved by anyone who she crossed paths with," said Director of Athletics
Matthew Glovaski. "Her passion for her family, her friends, and Iona College were unmatched and we will miss her dearly."
Marian received the Donald E. Walsh '66 Award at the 2013 Iona College Goal Club Hall of Fame Golf Outing. She and her husband of 60 years, Louis, were ardent supporters of Iona College and its athletic teams well after their retirements. Marian was predeceased by Louis in 2018 and is survived by two sons and six grandchildren. Counted among her many friends were the Christian Brothers from Iona. Marian was generous with her time, energy, and once dedicated to an interest, hobby, or cause, she committed wholeheartedly. Family holiday dinners and baking were her "sport" of choice, and a way for Marian to express how much she valued her loved ones.
