BRONX, NY - For the first time this season, the Iona University men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped both ends of the meet. The Iona women fell to 8-2 on the season with a 183-106 road loss to Fordham University as the men fell to 3-6 on the wrong side of a 175-108 score.
The loss on the men's side locks in a losing record for the first time in 17-years - since the 2004-06 season, with a Saturday road meet at Manhattan College remaining on the schedule. The Iona women have locked up their fifth consecutive winning season.
Meet Summary
Pacing the Gaels at Rose Hill Gym in the Bronx was
Ashley Benkert who captured the 100-yard Butterfly;
Isabella Nicholson who won the 100-yard Breaststroke;
Victoria Novinskiy who took the 200-yard Butterfly and
Brennyn Veit who touched first in the 200m-Individual Medley.

The Iona men got a pair of wins each from
Michael Faughnan and
Matthew Woyksnar. Faughnan touched the wall first in the 200 and 500-Freestyles while Woyksnar grabbed the wins in the 1000-Free and 200-Individual Medley.

"Fordham swam very well today and there were spots we clearly need to be better. We will get back at it on Thursday and prepare for Manhattan and the Feb (8-11) MAAC Championship in Buffalo."
