NEW ROCHELLE, NY— Iona University women's basketball head coach
Angelika Szumilo announced the signing of two student-athletes to the program during the Early Signing Period. Adrianna Gonzalez and Chloe Vasquez signed National Letters of Intent earlier this week to join the Gaels for the 2024-25 season.
Adrianna Gonzalez
Gonzalez is a 5-7 guard from Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and Indian Trail High School and Academy. Gonzalez had a stellar junior campaign for the Hawks earning All-State honorable mention, Southeast Conference honors while pacing the league with 26 points per game in 2022-23.
She was the seventh leading scorer in Wisconsin last year. Gonzalez eclipsed 1,000 career points for her career back on February 16, 2023. She is a honor roll recipient in the classroom. Gonzalez is a member of the Midwest Elite EYBL on the AAU Circuit.

Adrianna is a versatile combo guard with an impressive shooting ability and a scorer's mindset. She can also run point efficiently which will add to our depth at point guard position." Szumilo said. "Adrianna was one of Wisconsin's top scorers last year having scored 42 and 39 points in single games." "Her second to none work ethic, both on and off the court, sets her apart and will fit perfectly with our program. We're eagerly anticipating Adrianna's presence as a Gael."
Chloe Vasquez
Vasquez is a 5-10 guard from Pompton Plains, NJ and Pequannock Township High School. She is a four-year varsity starter and two year captain for the Golden Panthers. Vasquez is a three-time All-County first team and three-time NJAC-Liberty all-conference first team selection. She also garnered All-Group 2 third team honors in 2022-23.
Vasquez reached career milestones of 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 100 made three pointers in her junior season while averaging 20.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. She competes on the AAU circuit as a member of the NJ Panthers.

"Chloe brings versatility to our team as a guard, capable of playing positions 1 through 3. She has great basketball IQ, can shoot, attack the basket, and post up smaller defenders. Her size as well as the ability to rebound the basketball will also help us on the defensive end." Szumilo said."Beyond her athletic abilities, Chloe's notable achievements in academics and her competitive yet selfless nature make her an excellent fit for our program.
