The Gaels pulled within a run in the second inning but the Golden Griffs managed to score a combined 14 runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh inning to create separation. Trailing 2-0, Gonzalez lined his third triple of the season and during the ensuing at-bat, came around to score. Lorenzetti followed up with his best inning on the mound, striking out the side to keep the deficit at a run through two innings.

The Golden Griffs bats began to come alive, beginning a stretch of 16 unanswered runs to pull away from the Gaels.
