Camilion Voted MAAC POTY and DPOTY; Chambers Unanimously Selected COTY

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - Juana Camilion was named MAAC Player of the Year and MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, while head coach Billi Chambers was voted unanimously as the MAAC Coach of the Year.

JUANA CAMILION

Camilion is the first Gael to win both the Player and Defensive Player of the Year awards and the second MAAC player in the history of the league to win both awards (Gunta Basko, Siena, 2001-02). The award was first handed out in 2001-02; Canisius' Jenel Stevens won Player of the Year and was the Co-Defensive Player of the Year as well in 2003-04.

Camilion has now won back-to-back MAAC Defensive Player of the Year awards and is Iona's first MAAC Player of the Year since Damika Martinez in 2015.
Iona's captain was a unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team, earning a spot on an all-conference team for the fifth time in her illustrious Maroon & Gold career. She ranked top-15 in the MAAC in eight different statistical categories, including sixth in scoring average (14.1), sixth in assists per game (3.7), ninth in steals (54) and 10th in blocked shots (22).

BILLI CHAMBERS

Chambers was unanimously voted the MAAC Coach of the Year after leading Iona, projected to finish fifth in the Preseason Coaches' Poll, to an 18-2 mark in league play and the second MAAC Regular Season Championship in program history.

The Coach of the Year honor is the second in Chambers' career. Earlier this season, Chambers became the tenth women's basketball head coach to win 100 career MAAC games. She also now owns the most conference wins in program history and is the third-winningest coach in Iona history.
