GAME SUMMARY

Manhattan opened the scoring in the first couple seconds jumping out to an early one to nothing lead. Alexa Maggiacomo got the Gaels on the board off an assist from Alexa Skoubas. The offense of the Maroon & Gold came to a halt in the first and the opposition scored two more to gain a two goal lead heading into the second quarter.

Two goals in the first five minutes of the second from Laine Walterson and Mayila Haddock got the Gaels back even at 3-3. The Jaspers answered with two consecutive goals to regain their two-goal lead, Micaela Fitzpatrick found the back of the net 15 seconds before the halftime buzzer to pull the Gaels back within one.

In the first four minutes of the second half Manhattan scored the first two and took their biggest lead of the game 7-4 forcing an Iona timeout. Goals from Walterson and Skoubas got the Gaels back to down one with 7 minutes left in the third. Over the final six minutes Iona outscored Manhattan 2-1 and tied it up at 8-8 going into the final quarter.

Manhattan got back in front scoring the first two goals of the quarter, Emily Stewart scored her 94th of her career making it a 10-9 game with 9:27 left. Goals 30 seconds apart from Amber Brewster and Skoubas gave the Gaels their first lead of the game. Haddock's second of the game gave the Gaels just enough insurance over the last four minutes, as freshman goalkeeper Lauren Sweeney stood tall making key saves down the stretch.
