PROVIDENCE, RI - The Iona University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Providence in its 2023 season opener at Chapey Field. The Friars scored both goals within a 46 second span in the first half to earn the win.

Providence's Kyla Gallagher got on the board in the 26th minute and Meg Hughes scored in the 27th for the home team.

The Friars held a 23-2 advantage on shots. Junior
Caroline Scott registered six saves in the first half while freshman
Savannah Rogers stopped all three attempts faced in the second. Junior
Kedarjah Lewis recorded Iona's shot on goal.
