NEW ROCHELLE, NY— The Iona University women's soccer team utilized a late second half comeback to secure a 2-1 win over Mount in the final home game of the regular season at Mazzella Field. Sophomore

Marissa Graziano recorded the equalizer in the 88th minute on a penalty kick goal. Both Graziano and Foster tallied their team leading sixth goals of the season for the Maroon & Gold. Senior
Myla Rodrigues and McNally recorded the assists on the game winner. McNally became the program's all-time leader in assists with the 16th assist of her career. She broke the program record that stood for 30 years by Arrigoni Hall of Fame member, Tatum Nussbaum '99 from 1992-1994.
GAME SUMMARY
Iona had an early corner kick chance in the seventh minute as McNally sent the cross into the box for Graziano to place the header towards the right post but the Mount defense was there to clear the shot attempt.
Mount looked to score in the 12
th minute on a long through ball out to Cassidy Nichols just past the Iona back line. Rookie Kalya Kalbaugh made the point blank save for the Maroon & Gold. A tightly contested opening half saw both teams attempt five shots with the two goalkeepers making two stops.
Out of the intermission, Mount gained momentum early eventually drawing a foul in the box against the Iona defense for the penalty kick chance in the 54th minute. Sydoney Clarke buried the penalty kick goal to give the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead.
Iona looked for the equalizer in the 58
th minute with a corner kick chance as Graziano fired another header on goal but Adelaide Paredes made the save for Mount. The Gaels held a 4-2 advantage on shots over the next eight minutes of play as the team looked to tie the game but were unable to generate shots on goal.
As the game wore down, Iona continued to press in the Mountaineers end. A hand ball call from the referee in the 88
th minute on the Mount defense inside the box gave the Gaels a chance to tie the game with a penalty kick. Graziano stepped up and buried the penalty to the back right corner to knot the game up at 1-1.
The Maroon & Gold continued to press firing two more shots in on the Mount defense before drawing one final corner with 20 seconds left. McNally sprinted across the field to take the corner kick and delivered the corner cross into the box with 12 seconds remaining. Rodrigues made the initial touch as her header attempt went straight in the air and Foster was there to bury the game winning goal with four seconds left to secure the victory.
