AS IT HAPPENED
Grace Ehler continued her strong form from the Niagara match with four kills in the first set, but an 8-0 run by Canisius would see the Maroon & Gold drop the opener 17-25. Â
Â
Similar themes would continue in the second, as the hosts put up half a dozen unanswered mid-way through the second. This time Mija Jegers would be the one to tally four kills in the set, but ultimately the Gaels would face the same fate, losing the second set 16-25.Â
Stuck on the wrong side of an 0-2 match, Iona set the tone with five service aces in the third set. Doubling the Griffs kills total in the third the Gaels would steal a set back, 25-19.Â
The fourth saw an efficient Canisius put the game to bed hitting .500 as a team. Iona would lose the final set 15-25, and head home with a 1-3 loss.Â
