GAME SUMMARY
The Maroon & Gold struck in the opening inning as sophomore
Anthony Zollo led off the contest by reaching on a throwing error and advancing all the way to second base. Ragsdale then stepped to the plate and ripped a home run over the left field wall for the 2-0 lead. After two quick outs, Febo knocked a solo home run to left center for his first career home run and the three-run lead.
Junior
Carl Kuentzel worked two outs in the bottom half of the first before the Catamounts got on the board with a solo shot to right field. Western Carolina tied the game in the bottom of the second inning with leadoff home run and a two-out single to right field.
The home team gained control of the game with a five run third inning before tacking on runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth frames to take the commanding lead and the game, 16-3. Iona was held to just two hits and left five runners stranded after the strong opening inning.

- Febo made his first start of the season behind the plate and went 2-for-4 with his first career home run for the Maroon & Gold.
- Ragsdale finished recorded a 1-for-2 day at the dish including his first home run.
