NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona University baseball team fell to Mount St. Mary's 6-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Friday afternoon. The Gaels were out hit 8-5 in the opening game of the weekend series at City Park.
GAME SUMMARY
Iona threatened in the bottom of the second as senior
James Kemp roped a one-out double to left center. A ground out advanced him to third before sophomore
Nickolas Mora drew a five-pitch walk. Mount escaped trouble with a ground out to shortstop to end the inning.
Momentum carried over for the Mountaineers with a walk and three singles to load the bases in the third. A two-run single up the middle and RBI single to left followed for the lead. The visitors took a 4-0 lead on a fielding error. Iona evaded further trouble with back-to-back outs to end the frame.
The Gaels looked to gain some traction offensively with a pair of singles by freshman

Mount tacked on one run in the sixth on a two-out RBI single and another in the eighth on a sacrifice squeeze to cap the scoring.
The Gaels scattered just two hits in the final three innings on a sixth inning base knock from graduate student
