LORETTO, PA— The Iona University women's soccer team began the road portion of its 2024 schedule with a scoreless draw at Saint Francis University on Sunday afternoon. Freshman

Savannah Rogers both registered two saves in the combined shutout effort in goal for the Maroon & Gold.
GAME SUMMARY
Iona carried possession early, keeping the ball in the Saint Francis end in the opening minutes of the match. Drawing a corner kick in the fourth minute of play but the header attempt inside the box by junior
Kendall Infantino missed just right.
Saint Francis looked to strike in the 14
th minute with an open look at goal from 10-yards out, but Kalbaugh turned the shot aside with the diving save. The Red Flash then had a corner kick chance that hit the crossbar and looked to bury the rebound chance in front of the goal, Kalbaugh once again made the save to keep the game scoreless.
The opening half continued to go back and forth with both teams taking time with possession of the ball. Iona drew two more first half corner kicks in the 36
th and 40
th minute but were unable to capitalize due to the traffic in front of the goal.
Saint Francis looked to score out of the kick-off with a cross into the box missing just left. And then two minutes later Rogers made her first save on a laser of a shot from 10-yards out. Iona gained a breakout attempt in the 49
th minute as sophomore
Victoria Ryan lifted a through ball out to junior
Krystal Haertter in the Red Flash end. Haertter dribbled twice and fired a shot just inside the box that was saved by Emma Sawich. Sophomore
Payton Foster was there looking for the rebound but was denied by Sawich.
Rogers made her final save of the game in the 55
th minute as a header attempt off the free kick by Saint Francis floated in front of the goal.
The Gaels held a 4-1 shot advantage and four corner kicks in the final 25 minutes of regulation but were stifled by the Red Flash defense.
TEAM STATS
- For the second straight game, Iona and its opposition were tied in shot attempts at 9-9. The Red Flash finished the game ahead 4-3 on shots on goal.
- The Gaels held the advantage on saves, 4-3 with Kalbaugh and Rogers both recording two saves each splitting the goalkeeping duties.
- Iona drew a 9-3 advantage on corner kicks for the contest.
