Iona Swim Fall To Holy Cross At Home

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - In a night highlighted by more than a dozen close races, the Crusaders of Holy Cross came away with their first wins of the season, as they won both the men's and women's dual meet by respective scores of 150-146 and 163-135.

The pair of losses dropped the Iona Men's team record to 2-2 on the season as the women lost for the first time and are now 4-1.

The Iona men went down to the wire in the final race, as Nate Wales, Elijah Decasseres, Kieran Egan and Harry Platt posted a MAAC leading time of 3:03.25, but Holy Cross claimed second to seal the 4-point win.

The Iona men got a record setting performance from Sophomore Max Buchen, who touched first in the 100-yard Breaststroke at 54.95. lowering the 2025 mark set by Matthew Loftus '25 of 55.12 from 2024. Buchen also took the top spot in the 200-yard Breast at 2:01.96.

Other winners include Harry Platt in the 100-free at 46.38; Nick Patino in the 50-Free 20.95; Nate Wales in the 100-Back at 50.24 and Matthew Woyksnar in the 500-Free at 4:38.55.

The Iona women got another great effort from Sophomore Reagan O'Brien, who was the lone triple winner on the day taking the top spot in the 100 and 200-Backstroke events and the 200-IM with respective times of 56.64, 2;02.46 and 2:08.87. Other winners on the women's side included Kate Kennedy in the 200-Free at 1:54.71 and Brennyn Veit in the 200-Breatstsroke at 2:22.23

The team gets right back at Saturday as they host Providence College in a dual meet that has diving bouncing off at 11:00am and swimming at 1:00pm.
