NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona University Baseball team lost late to Fairfield 6-5. Starter
Eric Gialloreto went six innings allowing five runs, and the Gaels bats simply could not awaken from their recent slump. Senior
Joey Kasper went the finale three innings and gave up one unearned run, but Iona could not find the tying run. Freshman
Sean Stephenson led the charge for Iona collecting three hits, one being his third homer of the year. Sophomore

Anthony Zollo had multi hit games, but the Maroon & Gold could not find the big hit.
Game Summary
The Gaels led early due to Stephenson's home run in the bottom of the second. Fairfield would tie the game right back in the top of the third at one apiece after a lead off triple and RBI ground out. In the fourth inning, Fairfield took the lead on a two out RBI single. Iona would pull in front in the bottom of the fourth inning after graduate students James Kemp and Jayson Gonzalez walked and doubled respectively. Zollo and Stephenson would hit back-to-back singles, but nothing would stem from the bases loaded.
The Stags would retake the lead in the fifth from a three run home run going up 5-3, but Iona again would recover with a Zollo RBI single to make it 5-4. The Gaels would load the bases in the bottom of the sixth inning and tie the game on a wild pitch, before stranding two runners in scoring position. Fairfield would retake the lead on a single and error in the eighth inning and hold on for the last six outs of the game.
Kasper took the loss, his second of the season and Fairfield's Grabmann took the win, his fourth.
