WLAX Downs Niagara, 8-7

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona Women's Lacrosse team downed Niagara at home in a low scoring contest, 8-7 for the Gaels third MAAC win of the season. Iona improved to 4-6 and 3-0 in conference play. Despite being outscored in the second half and the Maroon & gold only scoring one goal in each the third and fourth quarter the defense and net minder held off the Purple Eagle comeback.

The rest of the Gael offense came off the sticks of Lindsey Grove, Sydney Grassi, Kate Krueger, and Calen Norton. Kacie Scarduzio also had a team and game high three points but with three assists only.

In net Ava Giugliano picked up her third win of the season making six saves across the 60 minutes. Posted a 46.2 save percentage. Iona picked up 19 ground balls with five different Gaels recording three each. Grassi led the team with 4 draw controls out of the 10 teams total.
