Game Summary
The Gaels stranded sophomore Jordan Overton in the first inning after a two out single. Yale got on the board in the first with a lead off double followed by two ground outs, with the latter driving in the run. Lasbury after allowing the lead off hit did retire six batters in order. In the third, senior Carson Cahoy got the first of his two hits, a single to field right, followed by junior Damian Rodriguez singling, but both runners would be stranded. Lasbury was replaced by Kuentzel who would pitch the third and fourth, where he would allow two base runners, one with an error while the other by a walk.
Iona would tie it in the fifth after Cahoy smashed a double to left and freshman Sean Stephenson would drive him in with a two out single. Bekios would enter and work through traffic in the inning, but end up stranding two in scoring position. The sixth inning would see graduate student Jayson Gonzalez double and steal third, but be thrown out at home on a fielder's choice. Iona again would strand runners in the inning and they would pay as Yale would take the lead in the bottom of the frame. Sophomore Kyle Hard had the inning and after an error followed by two hits the Gaels would be down 2-1. He would strand the two runners but the damage was done.
Seniors Brandon Pettrey and Ronald Rockey would combine to give up five in the seventh inning, before Kossow would throw a clean eighth inning as the Gaels would fall. Hard was tagged with the loss as Yale's Winslow got the win.
