RIVERDALE, NY – Led by three top 10 finishers, the Iona University men's cross country team earned a fourth-place finish at the 30th Annual Br. John "Paddy" Doyle / Iona University Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park. Junior
Baptiste Cartieaux placed second overall, while freshmen
Billy Coogan and
Jackson Jamison finished third and sixth respectively, as the Gaels tallied 85 points in the Mick Byrne Men's Championship 5-Mile race.
IONA PERFORMERS
The Gaels were led by Cartieaux, who crossed the line in 25:04.9, just two seconds behind the individual champion. Coogan impressed with a third-place finish in 25:12.3, while Jamison also cracked the top 10, earning sixth in 25:32.3.

Rounding out Iona's scoring lineup were freshmen
Julian Laznik-Moraghan, who crossed in 37th place in 26:53.4, and
Ben Daniels, who finished 39th in 27:03.1. Fellow rookie
Carter Flowers also competed and came in 58th with a time of 28:25.2.
TOP 10 INDIVIDUALS
Princeton's Jacob Nenow captured the individual title in 25:02.9, narrowly edging out Iona's Cartieaux by two seconds. Coogan followed in third, just ahead of Army's Gavin Hansen in fourth and Yale's Daegan Cutter in fifth. Jamison gave the Gaels three top-10 finishers with his sixth-place effort. Rounding out the top 10 were Yale senior Kenan Pala in seventh, California (Pa.)'s Jonathan Thrush in eighth, Columbia senior Edward Blaha in ninth, and Columbia sophomore Henry Koike-Sieira in 10th.
TEAM SCORES
The team race came down to the wire as Princeton and Yale shared top honors with 69 points apiece. Columbia was just behind in third with 77, while Iona claimed fourth with 85. Binghamton rounded out the top five with 94 points.

The Gaels return to action on Saturday, September 20, traveling to Columbia, Missouri, for the 2025 Gans Creek Classic at the University of Missouri's Gans Creek XC Course, the host site of this fall's NCAA Championship.
