POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Iona University men's soccer battled Marist to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field. Sophomore
Ricardo Vivo Calderon scored the equalizer in the 84th minute as the Gaels earned a point on the road in Metro Conference play.
THE RUNDOWN
The two sides played through a scoreless opening 45 minutes. Marist created several early chances, but freshman goalkeeper
Adriano Sofio helped keep the Red Foxes off the board with three saves in the first half. The Maroon & Gold generated seven shots before the break, including three on target.
Marist was reduced to 10 men after a red card in the 53rd minute. Despite playing a man down, the Red Foxes broke the deadlock in the 64th minute on a well-timed cross to the left side.
Iona continued to apply pressure and found the equalizer with just over six minutes remaining. Freshman
Rudy Figueroa fired a shot on goal and Vivo Calderon was there to bury the rebound, pulling the Gaels level at 1-1.

Jaime Roman Jr. each put late attempts on frame, but Marist goalkeeper Alex Murania made the stops to preserve the 1-1 draw.
IONA PERFORMERS
Vivo Calderon scored his third goal of the season and led the Gaels with six shots.
Figueroa recorded his second assist of the season on the equalizer and put his lone shot on goal.
Freshman
Ignacio Manzanares finished with three shots, including two on target.
Sofio made five saves across 90 minutes.
THE OPPONENT
Chris Verheul scored Marist's lone goal in the 64th minute.
William Salivonchik registered the assist on the Red Foxes' goal.
Murania made 10 saves in goal.
