NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Iona University men's basketball graduate student
CJ Anthony earned All-MAAC Second Team honors for his performance during the 2025–26 regular season, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
Anthony quickly established himself as one of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's top all-around performers after arriving in New Rochelle following four seasons at the University of Cincinnati. A former walk-on and team captain with the Bearcats, the graduate guard has been the engine of the Maroon & Gold offense since his debut in November.
Anthony appeared in 30 games this season, making 30 starts while leading the Gaels in both scoring and playmaking. He totaled 433 points, 94 rebounds and 161 assists while adding 50 steals, 52 three-pointers and three blocks. His 1.87 assist-to-turnover ratio also ranks among the best in the conference.
Across the MAAC, Anthony ranked second in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio while finishing fifth in steals and among the top 10 in scoring. His consistent production helped place him among the league leaders in several other categories, including three-point shooting and minutes played.
Within the Iona lineup, Anthony led the team in scoring, assists and steals while also ranking among the top contributors in three-point field goals. His ball distribution and decision-making have been key to the Gaels' offense, which has relied heavily on his ability to create scoring opportunities for both himself and his teammates.
Anthony was named MAAC Player of the Week twice during the season and enters the postseason closing in on a top-10 single-season assist total in program history.
Iona opens the 2026 Air Force Reserve MAAC Championship Thursday night against Sacred Heart at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+, with audio available on WIUR Sports. Tickets are available at IonaTickets.com.
