MAAC Announces 2026 Women’s Water Polo All-MAAC Honors

EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced its 2026 Women's Water Polo postseason honors, including the All-Academic Team and All-MAAC selections, with Iona University earning strong recognition for both its academic and athletic achievements.

Iona placed 10 student-athletes on the MAAC All-Academic Team, highlighting the program's continued commitment to excellence in the classroom. Seniors Sadie Sallas and Lola Trujillo lead the group, closing out their collegiate careers with the honor. Junior Maleah Penman was also recognized, along with sophomores Olivia Weissman, Blaize Penso, Anna O'Malley, Bailey Desmond, Grace Goldhammer, Alyson DePalma, and Mikayla Arthur.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

In addition to their academic success, the Gaels were well represented among the 2026 All-MAAC honorees. Lola Trujillo headlined the group, earning Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors after anchoring Iona's defense throughout the season. She consistently matched up against the conference's top offensive threats while contributing key steals, blocks, and timely defensive stops.

Trujillo also garnered All-MAAC Second Team recognition and was joined by teammate Sadie Sallas on the Second Team. Sallas delivered a strong all-around performance, playing a crucial role in Iona's offensive production over the course of the season.

Grace Goldhammer rounded out Iona's postseason honorees, earning All-MAAC Third Team recognition following a solid campaign in which she provided depth and consistency for the Gaels.

Iona's representation across both the All-Academic Team and All-MAAC selections underscores the program's well-rounded success in 2026, showcasing a group that excelled both in competition and in the classroom while continuing to elevate the standard for the Maroon & Gold.
