EDISON, NJ— The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced its 2026 Baseball All-MAAC teams and Major Award Winners on Tuesday morning. The Iona University baseball team garnered two All-MAAC selections as announced by the league office.
Freshman
Luke Lang and redshirt-freshman
Malachi Costello were both awarded All-MAAC Rookie Team Honors for their performances during the 2026 season.
Costello batted .295, which ranked third on the team, while posting a .489 slugging percentage that led the team. He also recorded 41 hits, the fourth-most on the team, along with a team-leading 32 RBIs and seven home runs. In addition, he drew 18 walks during the season and finished with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
Costello recorded three games with at least three hits this season on February 14 at Radford University, March 25 vs. Yale University, and April 10 vs. Sacred Heart University. On April 1, he delivered a five-RBI performance. Overall, Costello finished the season with 12 multi-hit games.
LUKe lang
Lang earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors three times this season. He led the team with five wins while posting a 3.61 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP. Lang also recorded 52.1 innings pitched, which ranked third on the team, along with 21 earned runs allowed and 54 strikeouts, both of which ranked second on the team. Opponents hit just .258 against him, the second-best mark on the staff.
One of Lang's strongest performances of the season came on May 8 on the road against Siena College, when he tossed 8.0 innings, allowed six hits and one earned run, and struck out six batters. Lang also recorded three starts this season with at least eight strikeouts, with his season-high of 10 coming on the road against Saint Peter's University.
