EDISON, NJ—
Kayla Kalbaugh of the Iona University women's soccer team was recognized as the Metro Conference's Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. The junior goalkeeper collected the third conference weekly honor for her career.
The Pleasant Valley, NY native posted a pair of shutouts during a 1-0-1 week for the Gaels, registering six saves in goal. She opened the week with three stops in a scoreless draw against Lafayette before making three more saves in Saturday's 4-0 victory over Delaware State. Kalbaugh has recorded three shutouts to start the season, tied for the most among conference goalkeepers.
It was the third time in her career with the Maroon & Gold that she received the league's top defensive player of the week award.
