BETHPAGE, NY – The Iona University men's golf team opened its 2026 fall season at the Doc Gimmler, hosted by St. John's University at Bethpage Red Course in Bethpage, New York. The Gaels finished seventh overall at 14-over par after two rounds of competition on Saturday, while Yale claimed the team title at 13-under par.

Originally scheduled as a 54-hole tournament, the Doc Gimmler was shortened to 36 holes after Sunday's final round was canceled due to rain. Iona opened with a team score of nine-over par before improving by four strokes in the second round, shooting five-over par to finish at 14-over.

Sean Richards led the Gaels, tying for seventh overall after posting a one-under-par 69 in the opening round and an even-par 70 in the second round. Richards finished at one-under par for the tournament.

Ryan Slevcove tied for 33rd, carding a 71 in the opening round and a 73 in the second round. Slevcove recorded an eagle during his second round. Sahir Balyan bounced back in the second round, improving by nine strokes to card a 71 after opening with an 80.

Lucas Vanderlip finished tied for 45th after posting matching rounds of 73, while Jennings Oelke finished 51st with rounds of 73 and 74. Competing as an individual, Freddie Tucker opened with a two-over-par round before shooting seven-over in the second round.
