Iona Men's Golf Tie for Fourth at Ryan T. Lee Memorial

SEEKONK, MA — The Iona University men's golf team finished tied for fourth at the annual Ryan T. Lee Memorial, hosted by Brown University at Ledgemont Country Club in Seekonk, Massachusetts.

The Gaels finished the three-round event at 7-over par, highlighted by a dominant second round in which Iona carded a team score of 5-under par, the best team score of any team across all three rounds of competition. Bryant and Fairleigh Dickinson finished as the top two teams, with Bryant claiming the team title at 2-under par. The Bulldogs and FDU were the only two teams in the field to finish under par.

Freshman Jennings Oelke led the way for the Gaels, finishing in solo eighth place. Oelke opened with a 74 before firing a team-best 64 in the second round, finishing the round at 7-under par. He closed out the tournament with a 73 in the final round.

Freddie Tucker finished inside the top 25 after posting a pair of even-par 71s in the first and third rounds. Tucker carded a 75 in the second round. Ryan Slevcove tied for 25th, opening the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 74. He finished strong in the final round, carding a 1-under 70.

Sean Richards tied for 37th and posted one of Iona's strongest individual rounds of the tournament, firing a 3-under 68 in the second round. Sahir Balyan rounded out the Gaels' lineup, opening with consecutive rounds of 73. He finished tied for 48th overall.

UP NEXT
The Gaels return home this week to host the University College Dublin for the annual Iona-UCD Challenger's Cup. The three-day event begins Sept. 22.
