Sean Burke enters his 11th season as the head coach of the Iona University men's golf program in 2025-26. With the addition of women's golf in 2024-25, he is in his second year as Director of Men's and Women's Golf.
 
Burke is in his 14th year overall with Iona athletics, formerly serving as Associate Athletic Director of Internal Affairs in addition to his duties with the golf program.
 
Iona won its third consecutive MAAC Championship under Burke in 2020-21 and earned placement at the NCAA Regional in Kingston Springs, Tennessee. The Gaels boasted two All-MAAC Performers, highlighted by Oisin Devereux's runner-up finish. Garrett Giles was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year, finishing tied for 12th individually. Iona had four student-athletes named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
 
Burke led Iona to its second straight MAAC Championship to finish the 2018-19 season. The Gaels had four All-MAAC Performers in the culminating event. Iona earned the right to compete in the NCAA Regional in Pullman, Washington. Two student-athletes were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
 
The 2020 campaign was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Gaels did have three members on the MAAC All-Academic Team.
 
The Maroon & Gold won three events during the 2018-19 season: the Lehigh Invitational, Sacred Heart Spring Invitational and the 2019 MAAC Championship. The Gaels recorded six top-five finishes.
 
The 2017-18 season saw the Maroon & Gold win the MAAC Championship for the first time since 2002. Justin Burkhamer earned MAAC Rookie of the Year honors by placing second on the leaderboard. Two student-athletes were honored on the MAAC All-Academic Team.
 
Burke was named the 2018 MAAC Coach of the Year and carried his leadership into the 2018 Raleigh Regional. Iona placed 14th in the regional and tied its best-ever team score to par in an NCAA event at 904 (+52). Justin Burkhamer dominated the first day of the regional with a 64 (-7), the lowest single-round score recorded by a MAAC student-athlete at an NCAA event.
 
In his second year, the Gaels placed sixth at the 2017 MAAC Championship. Iona had one student-athlete on the All-Academic Team.
 
In his first full season at the helm of the program, Burke led the Gaels to a fourth-place finish at the MAAC Tournament. Paolo Matti earned MAAC Rookie of the Year honors. Alex Anderson and Stefan Cygan were recognized as members of the MAAC All-Academic Team.
 
Burke has run demo events for TaylorMade at golf courses around the Northeast in addition to serving as a caddie for 15 years at both Rockland Country Club and Manhattan Woods Golf Club. Burke also serves as a junior golf instructor at Blue Hill Golf Club and Rockland Country Club.
 
Burke has served as the outing director for the Johnny Burke Memorial Outing, which raises money to benefit Livestrong and PanCAN. Burke is a member of the Blue Hill Golf Association and the MGA.
 
A three-year golf letterwinner at Scranton University, Burke graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in International Business. In addition, he earned his MBA in Sports Business Management from Manhattanville University in 2012.
 
He resides in Bergen County, New Jersey with his wife and daughters.
