Gerard Kane joined the Iona University men's lacrosse staff ahead of the 2026 season following a standout playing career at the Division I level and a strong foundation in youth and club coaching. A 2025 graduate of Hofstra University, Kane brings a player's perspective, coaching instincts, and a deep-rooted passion for the game to the Gaels program.

Originally from Suwanee, Georgia, Kane developed a love for lacrosse at a young age and helped grow the sport in the Southeast through family-run camps that featured coaches and players from programs like Johns Hopkins and Hofstra. His early exposure to elite talent inspired a lifelong desire to coach and mentor future generations of players.

While at Hofstra, Kane earned Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Rookie Team honors in 2022 and was known for his leadership both on and off the field. During his collegiate summers, he coached with 3d Georgia and at Seth Tierney's Boys Lacrosse Camp, designing team practices, leading training sessions, and developing personalized skill plans for players ranging from youth through high school. His coaching journey also includes stops with Georgia Tigers Elite, Reset Lacrosse, and Redline Athletics, where he gained experience working with goalies, shooters, and positional groups.

In 2023, Kane helped guide a 3d Georgia team from a winless start to a tournament championship finish, a turnaround fueled by the team's gritty "Mud Dawgs" mentality-a culture Kane helped instill and which later inspired the name of the club's box lacrosse team.

Kane graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from Hofstra and spent his freshman year at The Ohio State University before transferring. He is committed to growing the game, building relationships with student-athletes, and bringing relentless energy to the sideline every day.
