Michael Holzer '15, '17MA joined the Iona College men's soccer staff for the 2019 season. Holzer played for Iona from 2013-14 after transferring in from UNC Greensboro for his junior year.
A captain of the men's soccer team, Holzer appeared in 37 matches for the Gaels across two seasons, starting in all but one of them. Holzer was an All-MAAC Second Team selection as a junior. The Tettnang, Germany native collected five assists in his playing career with the Maroon & Gold.
Post-graduation, Holzer went on to play professionally with Reading United A.C. and the New York Cosmos. In between his two seasons with those squads, he worked with the New York City Football Club as a Communications and Public Relations intern. Since then, Holzer has been the Director of Coaching and worked as the head coach of the U12 and U18 RCDE Soccer Academy teams in New York City.
Currently, Holzer is the Program Director at Fox Soccer Academy and is the head coach of FSA Pro, a semi-professional club. He also works with CoachUp as a private instructor for young soccer players in the New York City area.
Holzer earned a Bachelors of Art Degree from Iona College in 2015 and eventually earned his Masters of Arts, also from Iona, in 2017.
