Sarah Tacke

Sarah Tacke

Sarah Tacke joined the Iona College softball coaching staff in August of 2012.  Tacke joined the Gaels after serving as an volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater of the University of Virginia last season.

“I am very excited to add Coach Tacke to the staff.  She is a great addition to the program, having played and coached at Virginia in the competitive ACC."

At Virginia, Tacke served as the team's first base coach and the team's video editor for all pitching and batting clips.  Tacke also assisted the Cavaliers' hitting coach in leading team/individual sessions and assisted in day to day practice organization.  She was responsible for overseeing student managers and helped with team travel arrangements, including flight information, hotel procurement, meal money, restaurant locations and reservations, and catered meals.

Tacke played at Virginia from 2006-10. She led the Cavaliers during her junior and senior seasons in both batting average and RBI. As a senior in 2010, she paced the offense with a .354 average and a team-best 43 RBI in helping Virginia to its first NCAA Tournament berth. That season, Tacke was also a first team All-Region and second team All-Conference honoree.  Tacke ranks among Virginia's top-10 career record holders in home runs, doubles, extra base hits, RBI and walks.

Tacke received her bachelor's degree in biology from UVa in 2009 and earned a master's degree in conservation biology in 2011.
