Aaron Gratch

Aaron Gratch enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Iona University women’s basketball team in 2024-25. Gratch comes to New Rochelle after spending the last six seasons on the NJIT women’s basketball coaching staff as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
 
The Highlanders won 40 games in the last three seasons, the best three-year stretch in the program’s 18 years at the Division I level. The team appeared in three America East quarterfinal matchups and made a run to the semifinals in 2021-22. Gratch coached three all-conference selections including 2022-23 America East Rookie of the Year, Alejandra Zuniga.
 
He joined NJIT in 2018 after two successful stints as the varsity girls’ basketball coach at Gill St. Bernard’s in Gladstone, New Jersey. His last stint with the Knights saw the team reach the Somerset County Tournament final in 2016-17 and finish the 2017-18 season ranked 18th in the state. In total he spent seven seasons at Gill St. Bernard in including five seasons as a head coach from 2015-2018 and 2010-2012 posting a combined record of 116-52.
 
Gratch got his first stint in the collegiate ranks as an assistant coach at Colgate University from 2012-14. Before taking the job at Gill St. Bernard’s, he served as head coach at The Patrick School in Elizabeth, NJ for one season. Gratch guided the team to a 21-7 mark and the Union County Championship, the first ever for the girl's program. Gratch was named Union County Star-Ledger Coach of the Year.
 
Gratch is a 2005 graduate of Caldwell University, where he earned his bachelor’s of science in management from Caldwell University in 2005. He has two master’s degrees from Seton Hall University MBA in Sports Management in 2011 and Educational Leadership from Montclair State in 2017.
