Allan Chaney

Allan Chaney

Allan Chaney joins the Gaels after having served as a basketball operations intern with the NBA G-League affiliate Delaware 87ers. There he became proficient in Sports Code and Synergy video editing, scoring, facility management and transportation operations. On the court, Chaney would be hands on with breaking down practice plans and leading on-court work outs. He was also part of generating player personnel intel reports and draft scouting reports.

Prior to joining the Delaware 87ers, Chaney was an assistant men's basketball coach with the University of Mount Olive located in Mount Olive, NC. He was part of the program during a very successful 2014-15 season where they won the Conference Carolina Regular Season Championship. The program had its longest winning streak in school history and recorded the highest-ever win total for a single-season. The program was NCAA Regional Champions.

Chaney began his collegiate basketball journey as a student-athlete with the University of Florida in 2008-09. He transferred to Virginia Tech and played with the Hokies from 2009-12 before finishing his career at High Point University from 2012-14. With the Panthers, Chaney was part of two Regular Season Championships in the Big South. He was named the CBS Sports National Comeback Player of the Year and Big South All-Conference Second Team in 2013.

"Allan's experience as a student-athlete brings an upside to our coaching staff. His time with Florida, Virginia Tech and High Point has prepared him for a professional life of basketball mentoring. Additionally, his time with the Delaware 87ers provides a fresh approach to player development and program building."
