Tim Gardner joins the women’s basketball staff as the director of basketball operations for the 2011-12 season. Tim comes to Iona from Kean University in New Jersey where he spent the past six seasons as the top assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
In his role as the director of basketball operations, Gardner responsibilities at Iona will include handling all video work for the team, coordinating team travel, assisting with academic supervision of the players, as well as coordinating the team’s community service projects.
While at Kean, Gardner was an integral part of the most successful period in the history of the women’s basketball program. During his time, the team had a record of 147-35, winning 3 New Jersey Athletic Conference championships and making 5 NCAA Tournament appearances. In these 5 NCAA appearances, the team reached the Elite Eight three times and the Sweet Sixteen once.
In addition to his coaching position at Kean, Gardner was also responsible for overseeing all athletic and recreation facilities in his role as recreation, intramurals, and events manager.
A native of Caldwell, NJ, Gardner graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland – College Park in 2003. He currently resides in Livingston, NJ with his wife Stephanie.
