Sara Carpentieri comes to Iona after three seasons as the Head Athletic Trainer for Gotham FC, a professional women's soccer team in the National Women's Soccer League. Carpentieri worked closely to provide optimal care to athletes, closely with technical staff and other healthcare providers during her time with Gotham FC.
Prior to that, Carpentieri worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Kean University, working with the men's and women's volleyball programs. She assisted with rehabilitation of student-athletes of all sports.
Carpentieri graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and a minor in Psychology from Springfield College in 2017 and earned her Master's in Science in Exercise Science and Physiology in 2019 from Kean University.
Professionally, Carpentieri has gained experience working as an Athletic Training student in women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, and wrestling. Carpentieri has conducted research on Division I and Division III women's soccer players regarding the importance of mental health in student athletes. Carpentieri is a board certified, licensed athletic trainer and recognized as a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Associations.
