Steven Jurnak

Steven Jurnark Jr. was named assistant athletic trainer in August 2015. Prior to joing the Gaels, Jurnak completed his time as an athletic training graduate assistant at Dowling College, where he worked with all of the Lions’ varsity programs.

He was responsible for the assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation and first responder duties for all 15 of Dowling’s NCAA Division II teams. A majority of his coverage was focused on men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, field hockey, baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, softball, and men’s and women’s tennis. In addition, Jurnak oversaw drug testing of student athletes.

Before arriving at Dowling, Jurnak worked as a certified and licensed athletic trainer in a variety of settings. He was mostly responsible for emergency care and short term rehabilitation duties at St. Joseph’s College, Sayville High School, and the Soccer Dynamics Girls Soccer Camp in New London, NH.

Jurnak served as a student athletic trainer, while completing his undergrad at Castleton State College. At Castleton State, he was assigned to two team per year, and he assisted and led in the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for various teams at the college. Jurnak holds Vermont and New York State Athletic training licenses. In addition, he is a BOC certified Athletic Trainer.

An Essex Jet, VT native, Jurnak earned a bachelor’s of science in athletic training with a minor in health from Castleton State in May 2012. He additionally holds a master’s of business administration with a specialty in management and leadership from Dowling College in Oakdale, NY, obtained in May 2015.
