Jersey City, NJ - The Iona College men's swimming and diving hoped to have a strong
return to the pool. The Gaels second stop in New Jersey in as many
days wasn't a good one as they could not contain St. Peter's falling
132-105.
"On the men's side, St. Peter's just had too much quality today
and we just seemed a bit tired," said head coach Nick Cavataro. Freshman Seth Tasman has impressed and had a season best in the 50-Free with a time of 22.09 and took second in the 100-Free (49.31). Senior Jason
Felix finished .30 behind Tasman in 50-Free. Sophomore Joe Przekota was 2.71 off the winner in the 200-Back (2:07.29) and classmate Matt Magura took the 200-Breast in 2:17.81 by nearly 2 seconds.
The Gaels don't return to the pool until
February 2 when they have a dual meet against Loyola (MD) and Fairfield
in Baltimore. "We know have a solid stretch of 7 practices days
before we race again and before we enter our taper phase heading into
the MAAC Championship," commented Cavataro.
