ALBANY, NY - The Iona College women's basketball team suffered a season-ending 76-69 loss to Marist in a MAAC Championship semifinal match-up at the Times Union Center. Senior Naeemah Ricketts recorded a career-high 18 points with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals in her final game for the Maroon & Gold.
Ricketts' scoring and rebounding output was matched by junior Thazina Cook, who added two assists, one block, and one steal. Freshman Kristina Ford and sophomore Anda Ivkovic joined the co-captains in double figures with 12 and ten points, respectively. Suzi Fregosi led the squad with seven assists.
Marist's Rachele Fitz was dominant with a 29-point, 18-rebound performance and was followed by Julianne Viani's 19 points. Lynzee Johnson was a threat from beyond the arc, hitting 4-of-8 attempts, and finished with 16 points and eight boards.
Iona led 10-8 in steals and bested the Red Foxes 13-8 off the offensive glass. The Gaels forced 20 Marist turnovers while commiting 12.
Head coach Anthony Bozzella puts his fourth consecutive winning season in the books as the Gaels end the year with a record of 18-13.
