NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Canisius on Senior Day at Mazzella Field.  Prior to the game, the Gaels recognized graduating seniors Ali Werner, Abby Dixon, Liz Pettersen, Diane Hare, and Lauren Machtel.

The Golden Griffins' Brianna Smith and Kelly Reinwald connected for both Canisius goals.  Smith registered her 11th and 12th goals of the season beginning with a tally in the 10th minute.  Reinwald fed Smith once again in the 24th minute to put the visitors ahead by two at halftime. 

Iona outshot Canisius 20-17 in the contest with a 14-11 edge in the second half but couldn't land one in the back of the net.  The Gaels forced ten saves out of visiting goalkeeper Lesley Ivinac.  For Iona, Trista Rivera saved four.

The squad returns to MAAC action at Marist on Oct. 29.
