GAELS CRUISE PAST LOYOLA IN THREE SETS ON SENIOR NIGHT

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College volleyball team cruised to a three-set win over Loyola in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Hynes Center tonight. Head coach Alan Edwards honored his program's seven seniors prior to the contest.

After Loyola (13-16, 7-8 MAAC) knotted the score at 10-10 in the first set it was all Iona (16-9, 10-5 MAAC). The home team went on 6-2 run and 15-7 overall to win the match 25-17. The Gaels dominated the Greyhounds in set two, holding their opponent to under 10 points in a 25-9 set win. Iona also held Loyola to a -.114 hitting percentage in the frame. Set three began the way the middle set ended with Iona jumping out to a 5-0 lead. The Greyhounds fought back and led by as many as two at times during the set. After tying the score at 21-21, Iona scored four of the final five points to earn a 25-22 set win.
