NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College volleyball team cruised to a three-set win over Loyola in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Hynes Center tonight. Head coach
Alan Edwards honored his program's seven seniors prior to the contest.
After Loyola (13-16, 7-8 MAAC) knotted the score at 10-10 in the first set it was all Iona (16-9, 10-5 MAAC). The home team went on 6-2 run and 15-7 overall to win the match 25-17. The Gaels dominated the Greyhounds in set two, holding their opponent to under 10 points in a 25-9 set win. Iona also held Loyola to a -.114 hitting percentage in the frame. Set three began the way the middle set ended with Iona jumping out to a 5-0 lead. The Greyhounds fought back and led by as many as two at times during the set. After tying the score at 21-21, Iona scored four of the final five points to earn a 25-22 set win.
It was the seniors that performed in their second to last career home game as to a person, contributed in the Gaels win. Senior MBs

Rachel Whitten proved too much to handle for the Greyhounds as they combined for 24 of Iona's 41 kills on the night and hit .594 in the win. Genett posted 15 kills, one shy of her career high while setting a new standard with a .667 hitting percentage. She improved her season's percentage to a MAAC-best .358. Whitten posted nine kills and hit .500 in the victory.
Senior S Alyssa Ericson posted 30 assists and had seven digs along with two kills in the win. Senior libero

Laura Fojanesi recorded 10 while posting a career-best two kills from the back row. Senior RS
Bethany Schornack had a team best three aces while posting two kills and five digs. The Gaels' seventh senior honored tonight was student-assistant coach

Theresa Harvey contributed seven kills and 10 digs in the win.
Loyola was led by six kills and 16 digs by senior OH Nina Camaioni.
The Gaels complete their home slate on Monday night when they host Saint Peter's before traveling to Siena and Rider to complete the regular season next weekend..
