DURHAM, NC - The Iona College baseball team dropped a 12-3 decision to Delaware State in the final contest of the NCCU Round Robin at Durham Athletic Park. The Gaels completed their opening weekend with a 1-2 record.

Rookie 3B Kyle Charron went 2-for-3 with an RBI in his first start in the field. He had served as the Gaels designated hitter in their first two games. Seniors 2B Nick Rossetti and LF Andrew Passerelle and sophomores RF Colin Lyall and SS Eric Capowski each had a hit in the game. Passerelle drove in two runs in the contest to lead Iona.

Sophomore RHP Chris Burke (0-1) took the loss. Rookie RHP Ryan Martin and sophomore RHP Sean Darsee completed the final 1.2 innings in scoreless relief

The Gaels are back in action in two weeks when they travel to Baltimore, MD to take on Coppin State on Mar. 6 and 7.
