GAELS FALL IN FIRST ROUND OF ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

PRINCETON, NJ - The Iona College women's water polo team fell to 17th ranked Princeton in the first round of the ECAC Championships. Down just one at half, a four goal outburst in the third quarter by the Tigers was the undoing for the Gaels in the 13-9 final.

In her first action of the season, sophomore Mackenzie Mone scored three goals. Sophomore Cecilia Leonard had four points on three goals and an assist. Junior Maggie Wood added two goals while reigning MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Meghan Keller had a goal.

Reigning MAAC Defensive Player of the Week Kathleen Link had nine saves.

The Gaels take on Bucknell for a berth in the fifth place contest Sunday morning.
