PRINCETON, NJ - In a contest to earn a spot in the fifth place contest of the ECAC Championships, the Iona College women's water polo team came back from a two goal deficit after three quarters to force overtime. The Gaels however were unable to top the Bison in the extra frame, falling 17-16.
For Iona, sophomore
Cecilia Leonard had six goals, two kickouts drawn and two steals. Classmate
Mackenzie Mone had three goals and two assists to go with seven steals. Junior
Maggie Wood had three goals, four steals and three kickouts drawn. Senior
Meghan Keller had two goals for the Gaels.
The freshmen of the Gaels had an impact on the game as
Lauren Scheetz had a goal and an assist and classmate
Alyssa Turza had a goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Juliana Kiesselbach had seven saves in net.
The Gaels take on Wagner for seventh place at 10:00 am Sunday.
