PRINCETON, NJ – The Iona College women's water polo team took eighth placed at the ECAC Championships after falling to Wagner in the seventh place contest by the score of 9-7.

Iona took an early lead, leading 3-2 after the first period. But Wagner battled back to tie the score 4-4 at halftime. A 3-1 run in the third period gave Wagner a slim 7-5 lead and the two teams traded two goals in the final quarter to reach the 9-7 final.

The Gaels return to action next weekend at the Siena Invite in Loudonville, NY. The Gaels open with a 10:00 am contest with Utica on Mar. 6.
